The Directors have strong commitment to Life Care’s Mission, Vision and Values.  Their passion is to enhance its ongoing community impact through engagement, teamwork, and a strategic approach to innovation. 

Judith Carpenter - Chair

Judith Carpenter brings over 22 years of experience serving on boards in aged care and vocational education training. For her last term with BaptistCare NSW/ACT, she served as Board Chair.

She is a trained MBTI facilitator and was a founding member of the Australian Institute of Management Consulting. With a robust consulting background in Big 4 firms KPMG and PwC, Judith has successfully run her own Human Resources consulting firm for the past 28 years specialising in executive recruitment, organisational development and executive performance management. Judith has worked with leading Australian and multi-national companies in banking and finance, insurance, professional services, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, information technology, telecommunications, retail and business services sectors.  She has worked extensively with local, state and federal government organisations as well as with the not-for-profit sector.

Judith has a sound understanding of the aged care sector, and this combined with her strong governance skills, enables her to navigate complex challenges effectively.  She is adept at fostering collaboration, skilfully bringing consensus from conflicting ideas to drive strategic direction and innovation.  Her commitment to excellence and her ability to unite diverse perspectives  help her bring strategic insight to her roles.

Chris Morey – Deputy Chair

Chris is a lawyer, with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science. Chris has worked in private practice in most areas of law, as well as in-house roles with universities and industry organisations and is currently Special Counsel in the Workplace Relations and Safety team at HWL Ebsworth Lawyers.

Chris is a member of Blair Athol Church of Christ and serves on the Life Care Board as a representative of Churches of Christ. Chris has served on numerous commercial and Not-for-Profit Boards, most recently on the State Board of Churches of Christ SA/NT as Chair and on the Life Care Board as Deputy Chair. Chris holds graduate certificates in governance and risk, and governance for NFP's from the Governance Institute of Australia.

David Cannings – Chair of Finance, Risk & Audit Committee

David Cannings

Chair of Finance, Risk & Audit Committee

David brings to the mission of Life Care more than 30 years of executive management and over 10 years of board experience in the social services and financial services. David works as the CFO at Wesley Mission in NSW having previously worked with the Anglican churches in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.

Christine Dennis – Chair of Clinical Governance, Quality and Safety Committee

Associate Professor Christine Dennis is well regarded in South Australia and nationally for her commitment to the hospital and health care industry, her contribution to the growth and development of our emerging health leaders and her extensive experience in clinical governance.

Christine is a strong business development professional with a Master of Health Service Management (Flinders University) and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) focused on International Business and Strategic Planning (University of South Australia).

Christine has held numerous healthcare CEO roles in South Australia, Northern Territory and New South Wales. In addition to her commitment to the mission and values of Life Care, Christine also currently serves as the Chair of the Governing Board of the Women's and Children's Health Network and, lectures in Health Service Management in Adelaide and China.

Peter Barney

With over 15 years experience of executive leadership in the health and community sector Peter has a passion for ensuring community organisations continue to evolve their practice to meet the needs of their clients.  In addition Peter has served on Community boards for over 25 years and is committed to best practice management having undertaken recent further study in board governance with the AICD.

Julie Lawrie

Julie Lawrie

Julie Lawrie brings over 12 years of corporate governance experience, in addition to 20+ years in the field of marketing & strategic planning for business growth, in both Australia and the USA.

She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and also holds a Degree in Business (Marketing), and additional qualifications in Human Resource Management & Industrial Relations.

Julie is regarded for her governance & leadership skills in a range of community sector organisations.  She brings her passion for social justice and community care into the boardroom and combines this with her skills in marketing, communications stakeholder engagement, business growth, strategy, and digital transformation.
